PlayStation 5 from Dubai

The UAE and Kazakhstan run on the same grid: 230 V, 50 Hz. A Dubai console plugs in through an adapter for the British plug. As of October 2026 Kazakhstan has no PlayStation Network region of its own.

Three consoles

PlayStation’s Middle East site lists three models. The Pro and the Digital Edition ship without a disc drive; Sony sells it separately, like the vertical stand.

  • PS5 with disc drive, 1 TB SSD.
  • PS5 Digital Edition, 825 GB, no disc drive.
  • PS5 Pro, no disc drive, about 3.1 kg without the box.

The CFI model number

The number is printed on the underside when the console stands upright, and on the box label. Slim models are the CFI-2000 group, the Pro is CFI-7000. The last two digits mark the market. Sony’s manuals list CFI-7021 as the Pro for Europe and the UK, and CFI-7019 for the US and Canada.

Sony does not publish a full table of regional codes. We match the Middle East code against the box and label from the actual supplier. Dubai wholesalers also stock consoles made for other markets. For Japan, Sony makes a separate Digital Edition with a Japanese-only interface.

PSN account region

Games and purchases are tied to the PlayStation Network account region, not to the console. Under Sony’s rules an account’s country or region cannot be changed. Add-ons and in-game currency work with a disc from the same region as the account. The PS5 Pro manual notes that some discs are region-restricted.

Kazakhstan has no PSN region of its own. In December 2025 a deputy digital development minister put this down to the small number of users. The National Bank named the end of Q1 2027 as a target. Sony has not confirmed that date.

Sockets and voltage

UAE: Type G sockets, 230 V, 50 Hz. Kazakhstan: Types C and F, 230 V, 50 Hz. The European PS5 Pro is rated 220–240 V, 50/60 Hz, 390 W maximum. The US grid is 120 V and Japan’s is 100 V, so consoles for those markets carry a different voltage line on the label.

Sony allows only the supplied power cord and prohibits connecting through a voltage transformer. A UAE console comes with a Type G cord; in Kazakhstan it plugs in through a G → C/F adapter.

Batch acceptance

We do not open every box; factory packaging stays intact. The supplier sends a photo of each box label, and we open a few consoles as samples. For each batch we match:

  • the CFI number on the box against the order, with no mixed regions;
  • the serial number on the box against Settings → System → System Software → Console Information;
  • contents: no disc drive in the Pro and Digital Edition boxes;
  • a 220–240 V label and a Type G cord;
  • on opened samples: the console powers on, updates, pairs the controller and offers Russian or English.

Delivery

Consoles travel from Dubai to Kazakhstan in 3–5 days. The console holds a lithium coin cell and the controller a lithium-ion battery, so for the airline this is cargo with batteries contained in equipment, and packing is checked under IATA rules. We do not put console boxes on the bottom row under heavy pieces.

In the order specification we list the model, CFI number, whether there is a disc drive and the plug type for every line.
