How consolidation works

The supplier hands the boxes to the consolidator's warehouse, where they are weighed, measured, labelled and loaded onto the next truck or wagon. Goods from several suppliers are grouped under one label and shipped as one consignment.

Density and price

The rate depends on density: shipment weight divided by volume. The denser the cargo, the lower the price per kg. Cargo lighter than 200 kg/m³ is priced per cubic metre.

Example: 300 kg in 1.5 m³ is 200 kg/m³, priced by weight. The same 300 kg in 3 m³ is 100 kg/m³, priced by volume.

Packing and labelling

Boxes are handled several times in a shared truck, so fragile goods travel crated or on a pallet. Every box needs the consignee mark and a package number. Crating adds weight and volume, and the quote includes it.

Shipment size

Groupage covers shipments from a few boxes up to 10–15 m³. For larger volumes we quote a dedicated truck or container, which leaves without waiting for the load to fill.

FAQ

Why was my cargo priced per cubic metre?

Its density is below 200 kg/m³, as with clothing, toys or furniture.
